Law Enforcement Sept. 16

Staff

Thursday, September 16, 2010

Editor's note: The county government center was closed last week on Monday, Labor Day and the optional day selected for a budget-cutting building closure was Tuesday; so we could not access Aug. 30 - Sept. 5 jail bookings, or sheriff incident reports. The information has been consolidated in this week's Law Enforcement page.

September 3 and on-going, the Wyoming area police are reporting elevated incidents of vandalism and thefts from vehicles. Sept. 3 police pursued three males and a female who were active in Goodview Park about 1:15 a.m. A house was egged on 259th Street. Thefts of items from Wyoming vehicles are also becoming a concern, so Wyoming Police are using a decoy vehicle to try to catch thieves. Readers are reminded in general, not to leave valuables in vehicles outdoors.

Sept. 4 the Tesoro gas station on I-35 and #17 in Lent Township had another alarm. This time it was a smashed front door window, time reported was about 2 a.m. Nothing was believed to have been stolen.

Sept. 7 in Taylors Falls near Linden Street and County Road 20, a car struck and "snapped" a power pole and it was propped up on the car but affecting power availability. No serious injury reported, but the air bag deployed sending "routine" medical response. The driver was cited for no insurance.

Sept. 9 a residential burglary at an address on Grand Ave. in North Branch was reported about 5 p.m. There is a 23-year-old suspect in custody, who is also believed to have been involved in vandalism of a Rush City property. The man is from Pine City.

The Hay Days activities generated complaints at surrounding locations of property damages, reports of hit and run, one car was reported stolen, but was located. Two cars apparently went too far off the shoulder of Hwy. 95, St. Croix Trail, but no injury was reported.

Sept. 11 on Highway 8, at Iris Avenue west of Chisago City, a Centerville, MN man was taken by ambulance when his vehicle was struck by a truck, driven by an Anoka man.

The incident was handled by Wyoming First Responders and Lakes region EMS. Details were not available from the state patrol. The crash was reported at 1:42 a.m.
