Alvin K. Swanson
Alvin K. Swanson was born November 30, 1929 in Minneapolis to Elmer and Mathilda Swanson. In 1937, they moved to the Lindstrom area, where they farmed. Al proudly served in the US Army in Korea from 1951-1953. In 1957, he married Muriel Lundstrom and they had two children, Kimberly and Thomas. Al farmed and did various other jobs, finally retiring from the post office in 1989. Al enjoyed wood working, and had a sharpening business in his garage for a number of years. He and Muriel enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family and many friends. Al enjoyed golfing with friends and was frequently seen at local sporting events.
In 2014, Al was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Shortly before that, he and Muriel sold the house in the country where they had lived since 1970, and bought a townhouse on the edge of Lindstrom. Al was deeply committed to his Christian faith, and he lived with eternity in mind. Al died November 1, 2017 at Parmly nursing home in Chisago City with family at his side.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Elwood.
He is survived by his wife Muriel, daughter Kimberly Swanson, son Tom (Sue) Swanson, granddaughters Krista and Rachel, and brother-in-law Roland Lundstrom.
Funeral Services are 11 a.m. Monday, November 6, 2017 at Chisago Lakes High School Gymnasium, 29400 Olinda Trail in Lindstrom, Minnesota. Visitation for Alvin was 4-7 p.m. Sunday at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom, Minnesota and one hour prior to service Monday at the school.
