Lonnie David Holmquist, 57, passed away unexpectedly early Wednesday morning, August 16, 2017, at his home. He was known to his friends as Dr. Lonnie, and was a local chiropractor in Lindstrom, MN.
He was born to Raymond and Carrie Ann Holmquist of rural Shafer, MN where he grew up on a dairy farm. He loved playing ball of any kind with his friends. He later became a partner on the farm and took up Dairy Herd Management at WITC Technical College in New Richmond, WI. But farming was not a profitable venture at that time, so he got out of dairy farming to take business courses at Century College in White Bear Lake, MN. When debilitating headaches and back trouble led him to go to a chiropractor, he was so impressed with the results that he decided to go to Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Bloomington, MN, where he got his degree.
Dr. Holmquist also participated in many events with the Chamber of Commerce and volunteered his time with the local Lions Club.
He was preceded in death by his father Raymond Holmquist, and is survived by his mother, Carrie Ann Holmquist and his brother, Larry Holmquist, uncle Walter (Lorna) Andrewson, aunt May Anderson, and many cousins and friends.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Monday, August 21, 2017 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom and one hour prior to service at church. Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Center City.
