Wayne S. Grey
Wayne S. Grey, age 86, of North Branch died Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at the Golden Living Center in Rush City. Wayne was born on July 23, 1926 at Sunrise to parents Arthur and Ruth (Rider) Grey.
He attended school in North Branch through the ninth grade and then joined the U. S. Navy serving his country during WW II. After his discharge from the Navy in 1946 he returned home and met Jane Oberg and they married the following year on November 12, 1947. Wayne worked as an electrician with Lakeside Electric in Lindstrom and later after moving to the North Branch area, as Wayne Grey Electric. He was a member of the North Branch VFW. His passion and hobby was racing horses. He raised, rode and also had horses at Canterbury Downs.
Wayne is survived by his two sons Derril Grey of Rush City and Merrill Grey of Madeline Island, WI; sisters Ethel Andrews of Chisago City; Laurel Reed of Monticello; Beth Clavadecher of Monticello and Alice Porath of Monticello; his nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife Jane; daughters Linda and Dawna; sister Adeline Hazel and brothers Paul, James and Merrill. Funeral services were Monday, July 22, 2013 at Lakes Free Church in Lindstrom with Rev. Rick Stanghelle officiating. Music was provided by Marilee Sanborn. Interment followed the service at Sunrise Cemetery with military honors provided by the North Branch American Legion and VFW Posts. Serving as casket bearers were Jeremy Eastman, Jason Cash, Jarrod Swenson, Nick Grey, Nick Gorman, Matthew Grey and Craig Wisner.
Visitation was held on Sunday, July 21st from 5-8 p.m. at Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch and also one hour prior to the service at church on Monday. Arrangements under the direction of Grandstrand Funeral Home in North Branch. Condolences maybe left at www.grandstrandfh.com.
