Ralph A. Post
Ralph was born on March 3, 1923 to Swedish immigrants Anton and Ester (Klingvall) Post. He grew up in Amelund, MN and graduated from Taylor Falls High School in 1941.
Hard work became a way of life. Ralph spent 59 years operating heavy equipment and was a proud union member. He spent his career in many parts of the country working on construction projects, including roads, air strips and even the ALCAN Highway, in addition to excavating over 1000 basements in the Twin Cities area. Ralph and Lyle Loretta Sinnott were married on June 18, 1949 in North Branch, MN. He was stricken with polio shortly after he was married. They managed to get through by Lyle's dedication and perseverance.
They have five children; Terrance (Connie), Thomas (deceased) (Monica), Shannon, Steven (LeaAnn) and Kevin. The family now includes five grandchildren; Erik, Brian, Alex, Nina and Sara. Ralph retired in 1986 and Lyle retired from Honeywell in 1990. They then became Arizona snowbirds for over 20 years, in Mesa at The Resort. Ralph loved supporting the park softball team and attending their games, playing cribbage and in general being a good neighbor.
Ralph and Lyle traveled to Sweden many times to visit family and traveled throughout the USA and Canada. Ralph was a man with a positive attitude and an inquisitive mind. In the grand scheme of things, he was a lover of nature and the joys of family, which gave him a true zest of life. He was a giving person, with ready helping hand, cheery smile, and a great laugh and a witty sense of humor.
Friday, May 10 in Minnetonka, MN, he died with no pain sitting in a patio chair, listening to the birds and enjoying the sun. He shut his eyes for the last time, he was at peace. He will be missed by so many people.
