Charles D. Nelson

Charles D. Nelson, age 81 of Lindstrom, died January 6, 2013 at the University of Minnesota Hospital. He was born on October 26, 1931 in Lindstrom to Wm. George and Hildur Nelson, being one of nine children. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Hildur; loving wife Margaret (True); sisters Mirian Nelson and Evelyn Bleifuss; great grandchildren Alissa Haines and Emily Rose Nelson. Charles is survived by his children Jim (Beth) Nelson and LuAnn (Mark) Peterson; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren with two more on the way, siblings Gladys Muncil, Lorraine Russ, Mary Givens, Janet Nelson, John (Judy) Nelson, and Darlene (Kurt) Jones. Charles was an avid conservationist and lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed hunting and fishing in his younger days. In more recent years he opted to enjoy watching the deer, birds and squirrels in his own backyard. For many years enjoyed bee keeping around the local area, and he enjoyed woodworking making items to give to friends and family. Charles retired from Plastic Products Company, where he worked 27 years, as the third shift foreman, was a supporter and fundraiser for the Lindstrom Boy Scout Troop #159, where at one time he was assistant scout master, was a member of the Hiriam Masonic Lodge in Lindstrom. Charles was a true family man and will be missed by many. Funeral Service 11 a.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Chisago Lake Lutheran Church in Center City. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom and one hour prior to service at church. Interment at Hillside Cemetery in Center City.
