Doris Marcella Davis

Doris Marcella Davis passed away at home with her son and daughter-in-law by her side, in Chisago City, MN, on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012. Doris was cremated per her wishes. Visitation and a memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in New Hampton, Iowa. Mike Vote from the New Hampton Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses will officiate. Doris was born on September 23, 1922 in Walnut Grove, Minnesota, the daughter of Mike Richard and Olga Amanda (Thram) Saathoff. She was married to Derold Lowell Noland, who passed away due to an accident, and Harry James Davis. Doris resided in New Hampton, Iowa for 45 years before selling her home and moving to Chisago City, Minnesota. Her favorite pastimes included quilting and gardening (especially flowers). She made quilts for everyone she knew and loved. Doris was an active member of Jehovah’s Witnesses since she was baptized on May 16, 1954. She was known to never have missed a convention. Survivors include her sons, Derold (Charlotte) Davis, Steve (Brenda) Davis, Jim (Wendy) Davis, Mike (Cecelia) Davis, Gary (Sandi) Davis and David (Evonne) Davis, her sister Adeline Grossnickle, and 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father and mother (Mike and Olga Saathoff), husbands (Derold Noland and Harry Davis) and sisters Dorothy Saathoff and Delores Bonebrake. Many Thanks to Mike and Cecie Davis for taking such GREAT care of Mom for the 15 months she stayed with them, to her other sons and families that helped Mom in so many ways while she lived in New Hampton, to Faye Leichtman and her family for watching over and caring for Mom all the years she lived in New Hampton and after she moved to Minnesota, her good neighbor Frank Holschlag and the hospice caregiver, Lila Christy. She will be deeply missed by all those that knew and loved her. Arrangements by Grandstrand Funeral Home in Lindstrom. Condolences maybe left at www.grand strandfh.com.
