Local educators honored as 2014 TIES 'Exceptional Teachers'
Kellee  Knutson  and Kara  Odegaard  of Chisago Lakes School District, Rachelle  Weinand and Laura  Rothe of North Branch School District and Eric  Telander of Rush City Schools will be recognized as TIES Exceptional Teachers at the 2014 Education Technology Conference at the Minneapolis Hyatt Regency, December 9. They are among 91 teachers from 48 districts.

Principal says survey results positive on BYOD program
Based on feedback at a parent meeting for the Bring Your Own Device program, Chisago Lakes Middle School Principal Jodi Otte expressed to the school board this month she is pleased with how things are going in the early stages.

The district used a survey that was given to the middle schoolers who use the devices, and the results were mostly favorable. Students said they were utilizing online text books, completing assignments online, researching, creating and giving presentations, taking notes, collaborating with each other and with teachers.

Meeting current and future needs
Last fall voters passed a referendum providing increased funding for the Chisago Lakes school district amounting to $820,000.  Four target areas were identified prior to the vote: school security, class size reduction, program improvement, and technology upgrades.

North Branch School Board adopts 12% increase in 2015 levy
The North Branch School Board, minus member Jay Falk, last week adopted its pay- 2015 levy just in time for the county auditor to get the information printed on the upcoming tax statements.
