|North Branch schools to provide digital devices for next fall|
|The North Branch School District is expanding the section in the district’s strategic plan that calls for enhancing digital learning in order to develop “responsible citizens” for the digital world. Begining this fall, electronic devices are going to be required for all 6, 7th and 10th graders in North Branch. Device distribution dates and usage orientation sessions are in August, which you should not miss.|

In the final analysis of North Branch four-day operations. however, there were quantifiable benefits other than test scores. Information in the district’s last annual report to the state was reviewed last week by the School Board-- as North Branch schools will return to five days starting this fall.

|Lunch prices creeping up in Chisago Lakes|
Starting next year, Chisago Lakes meal prices will be on the uptick. The school board approved raising the breakfast price in elementary and secondary schools from $1.15 to $1.25. The lunch price will also rise a little bit, going from $2 at the elementaries to $2.05 and from $2.20 at the secondary schools to $2.25.

|NB Alumni Association honors three for lifetime achievement|
The North Branch High School Alumni Association formed in 1992 with an early mission of supporting post-secondary education for graduating seniors by issuing scholarships. The association has awarded more than 100 scholarships and will add another 13 for this Vikings class of 2014. The group introduced another chapter to its legacy this year, honoring North Branch High School alumni who built exemplary professional and civic careers after high school.|

The Chisago Lakes School Board decided to implement a visitor management system called Hall Pass for the 2014-15 school year. The system will be at all five schools and the family center starting next year, and it will scan a visitors license, and then will print their school pass.

|Chisago Lakes Middle School implementing BYOD for next year's eighth graders|
Less than two weeks after holding an informational meeting on the potential of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) coming to the Chisago Lakes Middle School, the plan was approved by the Chisago Lakes School Board on Thursday, April 17. The program applies to incoming eighth graders, who will have to bring their own electronic device such as a Chromebook, laptop, or tablet such as an iPad or Kindle Fire.
