During the past few weeks, many elementary school students have listened to and read stories about the changing leaves, put together short informational books about the leave changing process, and even applied their observation and measurement skills as they collected leaves around the school to study their characteristics and properties.
Recently, parent volunteers helped Sunrise River Elementary students use collected leaves and fabric paints to leaf print white t-shirts to celebrate what they learned. Students enjoyed picking out the right combination of leaves for their individual shirts and when asked, parent volunteers commented that the experience was fun for all who participated. Many families supported this activity by donating t-shirts and fabric paints, and volunteering their time to make this activity a huge success, and their help was much appreciated.
