Early mistakes doomed the Vikings’ chances against the Wildcats last Friday.  The Wildcats took advantage of a short field after each of the first three Viking drives and Wildcat Cole Glenna scored on three short touchdown runs to give the Wildcats a 21-0 lead after the first quarter.  The Wildcats continued to add points and keep the Vikings off the scoreboard on the way to a 47-0 win.  The game was played at North Branch High School.

Wildcats smoke Hermantown, tie with Cloquet in first games
Chisago Lakes 6, Hermantown 1
The Wildcats couldn’t have picked a much tougher matchup for their season opener.  The Wildcat seniors had never beaten the Hermantown Hawks, a perennial Class 7AA power and the ninth-ranked team in the state.  And the game was being played at Hermantown.  Led by senior Callie Hoff and her 25 plus goals from 2015, the Hawks looked to continue their dominance over the Wildcats.
