CL and North Branch headed in different directions

Led by a hat trick from Billy Knaak, the Wildcats shut out the Vikings for the second time this season, this time by a score of 13-0. The game was played last Thursday, January 16 at Chisago Lakes Arena. 13 different Wildcats had points in this one. Trevor Lushanko led all scorers with six points on two goals and four assists. Blake Lizotte wasn’t far behind, with a goal and four assists. Three Wildcats had four points apiece: Knaak, who had an assist to go along with his three goals; Ryan Chambers, with two goals and two assists; and Brandon Gillespie, with a goal and three assists. Louis Kastenbauer scored two goals, and Landon Lushanko and Adam Nickelson had a goal apiece. Zak Lambrecht and Trevor Bluhm had two assists each and three Wildcats had one assist apiece for the game: CJ Haskins, Zach Pautz and Joe Kimlinger.
North Branch Loses Two
The Vikings lost to the WSFLG Blizzard 9-1 in a game played at Siren, Wisconsin on Friday, January 17. Nate Runberg scored the only goal for the Vikings, assisted by Ryan Byrkit and Trevor Minor. The next night, the Vikings were shut out 5-0 at Princeton.
• The Vikings (3-14-0 overall) host St. Francis tonight at 7 p.m. at Chisago Lakes Arena. Saturday night, they will head to Rogers Ice Arena for a game with Rogers at 7 p.m. And next Tuesday, January 28, the Vikings will play Legacy Christian Academy at the Schwan Super Rink in Blaine, with the puck being dropped at 7:30 p.m.
• The Wildcats (12-6-0 overall) will play at Princeton tonight at 7 p.m. On Saturday, they will travel north to take on Hibbing at Hibbing Memorial Arena at 3 p.m. And on Tuesday, January 28, they will welcome Cambridge-Isanti to Chisago Lakes Arena for a 7 p.m. faceoff.
• The Wildcats are the top-ranked team in Section 5A so far this season, with a 5-0-0 record in section play. • Brandon Gillespie leads the Wildcats with 32 points on 15 goals and 17 assists. Trevor Lushanko is right behind Gillespie with 31 points and also leads the team in goals with 16. Blake Lizotte is the assists leader for the Wildcats, with 21.
• For the Vikings, Brandon Waldo leads the team in total points, with 11, and goals, with seven. Ryan Byrkit’s six assists lead the Vikings in that category.
