Hwy. 8 Corridor Study open house June 26 at Lord of Lakes Church
Area residents and business owners are invited to an open house to learn about the findings of the Highway 8 Corridor Study, related to the route between Greenway Avenue in Forest Lake and Karmel Avenue in Chisago City. The open house will be Wednesday, June 26 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Lord of the Lakes Lutheran Church, 25402 Itasca Avenue. Attendees will learn about the study recommendations and next steps.
Information also will be available about the cultural resources investigation, which is being conducted in compliance with the Federal Section 106 Process. Specific construction projects are not currently planned or funded as a result of this study. The goal of the Highway 8 study was to identify an outline for right-of-way preservation that will guide future development along the corridor. The Environmental Assessment Worksheet (EAW) examines the purpose and need for improvements to Hwy 8 along with the anticipated social, economic and environmental impacts that could occur if the highway was expanded. Written comments on the EAW will be accepted through July 10, 2013. Comments should be submitted to Rick Dalton, Environmental Coordinator, Minnesota Department of Transportation, Metro District, 1500 West County Road B2, Roseville, MN 55113; 651-234-7677; or at Richard.Dalton@state.mn.us The Hwy 8 EAW was released June 10 and is available for public viewing during regular business hours at the following locations:
