The local township boards are holding their elections and annual meeting in a couple of months. You have only until January 15 to file for one of the township government seats on your local ballot. To put your name on the March ballot-- contact the clerk of the township in which you reside. There’s generally a $2 filing fee. Voting takes place and township annual meetings are held the second Tuesday in March. Amador Township is electing one three-year supervisor and the three-year term for clerk is on the ballot. Chisago Lake Township has one three year supervisor seat and the treasurer seat on its ballot. Franconia Township will be electing one supervisor to a three year term. Lent Township also has one three year supervisor seat on its ballot. Nessel Township does not hold an election at the time of the annual meeting. Nessel held its election in November. The clerk said the annual meeting is still convened in March, and this year Nessel residents will gather Tuesday, March 12 at 7 p.m. at the township hall. Rushseba Township is seating one supervisor and one treasurer. Sunrise Township has two supervisor posts expiring, one is a three year term and one is a one year seat. There are also two seats on the township planning commission expiring that are three year terms-- and one two-year planning commission post is on the ballot.
