GO bonds approved by Center City Council

Following the special session/public hearing held March 13-- to present a plan to borrow for the fire hall project-- the Center City Council has voted unanimously to move ahead.  The resolution was approved unanimously and sets the stage for the city to sell (borrow) $566,000 in General Obligation Capital Improvement Notes through First Independent Bank, a Russell, Minnesota bank that has worked with Center City’s financing advisors in the past.

Monticello spoils North Branch's shot at state hockey tournament

In last Thursday’s Section 5A Championship Game between the Vikings and the Monticello Magic, Monticello’s Jack Saunders scored on a shot from the right point to break a 1-1 tie at 13:12 of the third period.  Monticello added two more goals, including an empty-netter with five seconds left, to make the final score 4-1.  The loss ended the best season in North Branch High School hockey history.  Monticello will go to the state tournament for the second year in a row.  The game was played at Elk River Ice Arena.

Warren Scullen

Warren Allen Scullen, age 81 of Milltown, WI and formerly of Lindstrom, MN passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at his home.

The Chisago Lakes School Board met March 8 for a regular meeting.  Dani Strenke  and Lori Berg were absent.
