Tie-vote kills request for sewer bill credit

A sure-to-be-prickly item on the North Branch City Council  agenda last week didn’t come until two hours into a meeting that had already had its contentious moments.  Not surprisingly, the issue ignited tempers and council utilized a brief recess to calm things down about 9:15 p.m. before finishing up an arduous session April 12.

Wildcats win 3 in a row

St. Francis 9, Chisago Lakes 1
The St. Francis Fighting Saints broke open a scoreless tie with nine runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to roll over the Wildcats 9-1 last Tuesday, April 12 at St. Francis.  Starting pitcher Tyler Stilp shut out the Fighting Saints for the first five innings, allowing just two hits and two walks while striking out nine.  But in the sixth, Stilp and Trevor Johnson combined to allow nine runs on six hits and two walks.  Two errors and a balk didn’t help things, but seven of the nine runs were earned.

Judith L. Schantzen age 74 of Chisago City, MN passed away peacefully on April 17, 2016 at Margaret S. Parmly Residence, with her family by her side. Judy was born on May 26th, 1941 in St. Paul, MN.
